We're in Central Illinois. Oak, hickory, walnut, and more grow in the area.

We have it all at our hardwood flooring company! You'll see top brand names like Mohawk, Mannington, UltraWood, etc.

Why does it matter where it comes from?

1. Recognition. There are many species from which to choose. They're all beautiful, but you might feel more comfortable with a species with which you're familiar.

2. Climate adjustment. Wood is porous and absorbs water easily. Keep in mind that wood has to adjust to new climates.

It can take a lot longer and be even more complicated when your solid hardwood flooring comes from another part of the country or world.

3. Local shopping. Right now, American-grown wood is a trend. However, many prefer to support local businesses–or, in this case, our forests.

Wood floor durability = beauty

These floors stand up to anything. That is a significant factor in their beauty because they seldom look damaged or worn.

Just be aware that the floors have different strength levels. Oak and hickory are two of the hardest woods.

Inform your flooring expert if you have extra durability needs. Also, inquire about the Janka Scale, which tells the hardness of each wood flooring species.

As long as they're cared for properly

Both solid and engineered wood is relatively easy to care for. Dry mop several times a week– even every day, if possible.

This is so that dust and dirt don't get in between the boards. That causes scratching and other damage.

Other than that, wipe spills immediately. Vacuum once a week and employ everyday routines such as using furniture pads or mats.
